What Is a Date Add or Subtract Calculator?

A Date Add or Subtract Calculator helps you find a future or past date by adding or subtracting a specific number of days, weeks, months, or years from a starting date.

It can be useful for calculating deadlines, project dates, appointments, subscription periods, payment dates, travel dates, and other calendar events.

How It Works

Future Date = Starting Date + Time Period

For subtraction, the selected time period is removed from the starting date.

Past Date = Starting Date − Time Period

Example

If you enter January 1, 2026 and add 30 days, the calculator returns January 31, 2026.

If you enter January 1, 2026 and subtract 30 days, the calculator returns December 2, 2025.

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Choose your starting date.
  2. Select Add or Subtract.
  3. Enter the amount.
  4. Select days, weeks, months, or years.
  5. Click Calculate Date.

Adding Months and Years

Calendar months and years do not all contain the same number of days. This calculator therefore treats months and years as calendar units rather than converting them into a fixed number of days.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I add weeks to a date?

Yes. One week is treated as seven calendar days.

Can I subtract days from a date?

Yes. Select Subtract, enter the number of days, and calculate the resulting date.

Does the calculator account for leap years?

Yes. Calendar calculations automatically account for leap years.

What happens when adding a month to January 31?

If the target month does not contain the original day number, the calculator adjusts the result to the last valid day of the target month.
