Days Between Dates Calculator

Calculate elapsed days, weeks, approximate months and years, and the calendar difference between two dates.

What Is a Days Between Dates Calculator?

A Days Between Dates Calculator finds the elapsed time between two calendar dates. It can help you calculate durations for projects, holidays, appointments, subscriptions, events, and personal schedules.

How to Calculate the Difference Between Two Dates

Select a start date and an end date, then choose Calculate Difference. The calculator determines the number of calendar days between them and also displays complete weeks, approximate months and years, and the calendar difference.

Elapsed Days = Later Date − Earlier Date

For example, the elapsed difference between January 1 and January 11 is 10 days. The starting date is not counted as a completed day.

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Select the start date.
  2. Select the end date.
  3. Click Calculate Difference.
  4. Review the days, weeks, approximate months and years, and calendar difference.

What Is the Calendar Difference?

The calendar difference expresses the interval in years, months, and days instead of converting every day into an average month or year. Calendar months have different lengths, so this result may differ from the approximate month and year conversions.

Does the Calculator Account for Leap Years?

Yes. It uses calendar dates, including February 29 in leap years, when calculating elapsed days and the calendar difference.

Elapsed Days vs. Inclusive Days

Elapsed days measure the time from one date to another. Inclusive counting includes both the starting and ending dates. If a schedule requires inclusive counting, add one to the elapsed day result when both dates should be counted.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I calculate days between dates in different years?

Yes. Select dates from different months or years to calculate the elapsed days between them.

What does complete weeks mean?

Complete weeks are groups of seven elapsed days. Any leftover days are shown separately. For example, 17 days equals 2 complete weeks and 3 remaining days.

Are the month and year results exact?

The approximate month and year results are conversions based on average calendar lengths. The calendar difference provides a separate year-month-day breakdown.

Does the calculator include the start date?

No. It measures elapsed time. For inclusive counting, count both endpoints according to your particular use case.

Is this calculator free to use?

Yes. It works in your browser and requires no installation.
