What Is a Time Calculator?
A time calculator helps you work with time durations expressed in hours, minutes, and seconds. Use it to combine durations, find a difference, or calculate a duration multiplied or divided by a number.
How to Use This Calculator
- Enter the first duration in hours, minutes, and seconds.
- Select addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division.
- For addition or subtraction, enter the second duration.
- For multiplication or division, enter a numeric factor.
- Select Calculate Time to see the result.
Examples of Time Calculations
- Add: 2 hours 30 minutes + 1 hour 45 minutes = 4 hours 15 minutes.
- Subtract: 5 hours 20 minutes − 2 hours 10 minutes = 3 hours 10 minutes.
- Multiply: 1 hour 30 minutes × 2 = 3 hours.
- Divide: 4 hours ÷ 2 = 2 hours.
How Are Results Calculated?
The calculator converts each duration to total seconds before performing the calculation. It then converts the result back into hours, minutes, and seconds. The total seconds value is also displayed, rounded to two decimal places.
Can a Subtraction Result Be Negative?
Yes. If the first duration is smaller than the second duration, subtraction produces a negative result. The minus sign is displayed so you can identify the direction of the difference.
